Dadar Chowpatty Beach- Mumbai Suburbs

There are huge number of beaches along the western coastline of Mumbai which is a major attraction for the locals and the outsiders. The Dadar Chowpatty Beach is one such beach located near the Dadar suburbs in the city. Apart from the natural sea beach it offers a wonderful and grand view of Bandra Worli Sea Link Bridge. The shore is mainly used for watching the magnificent sunset and for jogging. Evening stroll, spending leisure time, yoga and exercises are some of the usual activities done in the beach. The beach offers a lot of eateries in road side stalls. The shore of the sea exhibits an example of city pollution due to which it wards off many visitors. However keeping aside the polluting scenes, tourists are found to spend their time along the beach. The government is nowadays showing interest in cleaning plans and soon we can come over to spot the beach in its original beauty. September to March is the best time to visit the Dadar beach.

Reaching there

The location being in the extreme west, it takes 20 minutes to walk and reach the beach from the nearest railway station Dadar. Walk through the Ranade road and go towards Gokhale road, then you will come to a junction circle. The entrance of the beach is linked Chaityabhoomi.

What to do Dadar Chowpatty Beach

Spending an evening in the Chowpatty beach is something to remember as it is like carnival. Although horses rides are not legal, but the locals enjoy it rather illegally. Children are seen enjoying the ferris wheel. You can also opt for fortune tellers. People like snake charmers, monkey show host get a chance to earn their livelihood, altogether make the place an interesting one for the visitors. Several festivals are enjoyed at the beach like Ganesh Chaturthi, thread tying ceremony and Nariel purnimas when people from near and far come to watch idol immersion.

Overview

This is a small beach and is less crowded sand beach which is very close to Shivaji Park in Dadar West. Also a garden is there at the northern side of the beach named Veer Baji, Prabhu Udyan. Generally the beach is not safer for ladies after evening. Swimming on the sandy shore is not recommended as it is prone to danger; no alerts are being marked about high tide or sinking sand area. There is lack of proper illumination and CCTV camera due to which the only sitting space of the rocky entrance is occupied by males, drunkards and is not much safe for women. There is also lack of proper patrol and lifeguards in the region which makes the beach unsafe from many angles. Most of the people visit there during the daytime and also evening to have the illuminated view of the bridge. Girls are recommended to go there with their partners and not alone.

Dadar Chowpatty Beach is among the popular beaches of Mumbai that accommodates a magnificent landscape and a scenic coastline.  This is a super fun destination for spending leisure time with family and friends. People also arrive at the beach for taking a small party break. Many famous street food of Mumbai are available around the shore such as roasted corn, barf gola and kesar kulfi (which is a form of ice cream). At night the surrounding offers a wonderful view when the city light up. People are seen to be seated in small groups spending time and gossiping. Horse riding is available in groups or single as you prefer. Local people are seen in the morning and evening to take the fresh oxygen of the sea beach. There is an entrance gate thorough which passes the way to the beach. Altogether the view is nice and beautiful one.
