Temple of Shyama Kali
The best place to visit to gain spiritual and religious awakening is the Shyama Kali Temple in Darbhanga. Located and founded by none other than the famous “Lalit Narayan Mithila University,” this temple is located in a serene and beautiful ground, which will appeal to the body and soul of all the people visiting there. The deity is known as Shyama Mai and the year of build of the temple goes back to 1933.
This tourist place dates back to the time of Ramayana and is situated in the village known as Ahilya Gram. The name of this popular sightseeing spot is given as a namesake of the wife of Gautam Rishi – Ahilya. Located in the Jale Block, this place is just 3 kilometers away from the Kamtaul railway station. If you are visiting Darbhanga during the months of March and April then do not miss the festival of Ram Navami, which is celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm here.
This is a place for the history buffs as there are all total eleven galleries which is full of ancient artifacts made of various materials such as ivory, metal, clay, glass, and wood. Located on the east side of the famous Lake of Mansarovar, in the year 1957, this museum was established. You will find a large array of brass statues of different deities along with Buddha statues from Tibet and Nepal in this place along with the spectacular display of rare gems and precious stones.
Kusheshwar Asthan Bird Sanctuary
After landing at the Darbhanga airport, you should visit the Kusheshwar Asthan Bird Sanctuary, which is a great tourist spot for the people who loves wildlife. This place serves as the home for more than fifteen species of birds under the endangered category during the winter seasons. This Sanctuary comprises of a total of fourteen villages which has been declared as a safe haven for birds under the Act of Wildlife Protection,1972. Some of the rare birds you can spot in this place are Indian Darter, Dalmatian Pelican, Siberian Crane, and Bar-headed goose.
A colossal fort, which was a residence of the past Royal Family of Darbhanga Zamidars – this place carries a great deal of the historical significance of this region. This Fort also is quite popular by the name Raj Qila.
