India is surrounded by Bay of Bengal, Arabian sea and Indian ocean on  East West and South respectively. There are many heritage places in India are there in India which is important for their cultural aspects and many places are there which are important for the beauty of nature. Himalayas in the North are one the places of attraction for the tourist.

List of Heritage places in India is nothing but the group of places which have been chosen by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).  There are 25 cultural places and 7 natural places which may be regarded as the heritage places of India by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The cultural places include Agra Fort, Ajanta caves, Buddhist monuments at Sanchi, Champaner-Pavagadh Archeological Park, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Elephanta caves, Churches and Convents of Goa, Ellora caves, Fatehpur Sikri, Humayun’s Tomb in Delhi, Jantar Mantar of Jaipur, Taj Mahal, Qutub Minar etc.

Attraction of the heritage places

Heritage places in India attracts a number of tourist who visit this places for their beauty and cultural aspects.

  • Taj Mahal situated in Agra is one of the famous places of India and is of great historical importance as it was build by the great emperor Shah Jahan in the love of his wife Mumtaz. Taj Mahal’s beauty is greatly enjoyed by the tourist which was built on the design of the Persian and Mughal architecture.
  • Next mention may be made of Qutub Minar, Qutub Minar of Delhi is known to be the second tallest Minar of India, on the foot of the Minar there is a Mosque which was the first Mosque that was built in India.
  • Next comes the Ellora caves which is said to be one of the largest rock cut monastery temple caves. There are many inscriptions from the time of 7th century onwards. So tourists also find this place as it is bearing a great historical importance.
