The pace is home to different migratory birds that includes kingfisher and Siberian stock. The nearby Pathiramanal Island can be visited from here which takes a boat ride for just ten minutes. The entry fee to this sanctuary is rupees 50 to 100. It is kept opened on all days of the week, and the visiting hour starts from 6:30 in the morning till 5 p.m. in the evening. The months from June to August are the best time to visit but the months from November to February is the ideal time to spot the migratory birds. Enriched with motor boats and houseboats available on rent, the place is wonderful destination for the bird watchers. Mary’s Church

This is one of the oldest church in the state and the major tourist destination in the region of Kumarakom. The interior decoration of this church is just beyond words as it has been built with European style of Architectural design. The walls and the pillars have been crafted with Biblical and Non biblical murals that add up to the charm and purity of this place. Set among the cliffs and lush greeneries, the church is definitely a must visit. It remains open on all days of the week from eight in the morning to six in the evening. It is to be noted that the place glows with lightings and cheerful elaboration on the Christmas eve. The midnight mass is something that would add to your memorable experience.

Ettumanoor Mahadeva temple

This is a privilege and temple of Lord Shiva that would make you feel calm inside the temple premise. The main attraction of the temple is the all-time-lit lamp spreading its glowing light all around and the long queue eager to add oil to increase the life of the lamp. The temple is located near Vaikom in Ettumanoor, a small village in Kumarakom. The visiting hour is from 4 am to 12 noon and again from 5 pm to 8:30 p.m. the most visited occasion falls on the month of February that is famous for “Celebration of Light”.

Bay Island Driftwood Museum

This unique type of museum is famous for the innovative art techniques of the modern era. Founded by a school teacher, Raji Punnose from Andaman and Nicobar Island, this form of artistic formation is favoured all around the world. The sculptures are made of wood that showcases designs made of roots and tree trunk. Because of its awesome intricate artwork, this museum is listed in the Limca book of Records. The museum can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday.
