34 kilometers from the city of Santiago we find Chile’s most famous winery. Build in the 1880s, this winery was designed by French architect, Pierre Dubois and it has achieved the status of a national historical monument. You can sample the wines, take a stroll through one of the four vineyards that surround the place but remember that if you plan to visit you should make a reservation.

4. Museum of Memory and Human Rights

This museum was opened in 2010 and it is dedicated to honoring the victims of Human Rights abuses during the Military Regime controlled by Augusto Pinochet between 1973 and 1990. It has eleven rooms displayed on three floors and it is considered one of the greatest museums in South America. Be sure to have some napkins with you as the displays will move you to tears.

5. Spicy Chile – Free Walking Tours

We think the best way to understand a city is on foot. You get to see the people and the sights up-close, you get to take pictures and interact with other fellow tourists. There are meeting points where you can join a tour, so it is up to you where and when you start your walk. The tour is free, but donations are encouraged.
