These usually involve hooded brotherhoods who don distinctive long, pointed headwear and solemnly walk the streets in front of crowds of people. The sight is especially poignant in the evening Silent Procession, thanks to the dark skies and almost eerie atmosphere.

If for some reason, you decide to leave the warm sand of Tenerife’s beaches to get stuck into an activity or two, you’ll have lots of options to choose from. One of the best things to do is whale and dolphin watching in south Tenerife, which is home to 21 different species.
