Get up early and explore the ancient caves. Visit Waulpane and learn why it is called the bat cave. Situated on the eastern side of the mountain range in Rakwana is has a running stream and a beautiful waterfall. Another cave that you will not want to miss is Bogoda. Legend has it that this was used as a hideout by King Walagamba.

Even though Sri Lanka is an island, there are many old canals, lagoons, and rivers that you can enjoy. Cruise down the Polwatta river and watch for purple-faced monkeys. You may even catch a glimpse of the mugger crocodile. If you take a boat ride on the Madu River you will float past small villages and be able to stop and shop for souvenirs at the local markets.

Other wonderful activities include hot air ballooning, horse riding, cycling, whale and dolphin watching, sailing, surfing, and of course walking.
