Waterfalls are the most beautiful creation of nature that is liked almost by everybody. Various types of falls are found through the mountains, valleys, and forest across Kerala. Some falls are high and some are low. Some are deep and some are shallow. But every kind of falls has its unique beauty. The waterfalls of Kerala are quite enchanting and are of different features. The Valara Waterfalls in Chillithodu is one of the greatest waterfalls in the district of Idukki. It is surrounded by lush greeneries and made its way through the vast dense forest creating seven tiers before reaching the ground.
It stands 14 km away from Adimali. The falls is originated from the river Deviyar which is situated in the Western Ghats. The Cheeyapara waterfall is very near to it that can be explored together. You can head for it after visiting Valara Falls. Standing on the Cochin- Munnar highway this falls has acquired popularity due to its cascading beauty. The falls can be spotted while passing through the highway 49 by stopping your car. The size of the falls decreases in summer months but the beauty is not decreased. Monsoon makes the falls come alive. You cannot get near the falls, but can watch its serene beauty from the side of the road.
It comes under the vicinity of Southern Central Kerala and is on the roadways from Cochin to Munnar on National Highway 49. The nearest town is Adimali and Neriyamangalam. There is a bus stoppage in both these locations and cabs are available from there. The nearest railway station is Ernakulam which is 97 kms away from there. And the nearest airport is defiantly the Cochin International Airport which is at a distance of 74 km.
You can have your meal at the nearby restaurants in Kothamangalam, Adimali, and Neryamangalam. The place is best to spend moments at the weekends and local people go there to sooth their eyes with the eye catching beautiful scenario while sipping a cup of coffee from the roof of the nearby restaurants.
There are cheap hotels as well as luxurious resorts too in Adimali. But if you are not satisfied with that there are better options available in Cochin and Munnar too. TKG grand is a cheap hotel with good facilities where you can stay with your family at reasonable rates. Jannah Residency being the other offers a comfortable stay. Hotels like Rock Inn, Munnar Roost are the best ones and it is better to book these hotels prior to your arrival as they lower rates if you book from before.

Few cafes are there near the falls and you can enjoy the beauty of nature sitting atop the cafe. You make the trek to the jungle if you wish but for this you need to take help of the local guide. You can explore the dense forest and during the trekking journey, you may spot some local animals and birds.
