7 Tips That Will Help You Survive a Long Haul Flight

Even frequently flying passengers are not fond of being trapped high in the air aboard an air vehicle. Indeed, long haul flights can be pretty boring and tiresome and turn into real torture for most passengers. However, there are a few simple tricks that will help make your flight a lot more comfortable and enjoyable.

With these 7 tips, even economy class passengers will feel like first class.

1) Choose the Right Clothes

To feel no discomfort during the flight it is highly important to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes. The best choice for men is a pair of loose jeans or soft sweatpants, a T-shirt and a comfortable sweater. Women might want to try sports pants, leggings, and a sweater. To avoid leg swelling, it is recommended to wear compression socks or stockings.

2) Choose Food Carefully

Jet lag is a common problem during long haul flights. To cope with this problem easier, specialists recommend eating food with a high content of complex carbohydrates. The latest studies show that the consumption of oatmeal, whole grain bread, spaghetti, and other carb-rich foods increases insulin secretion, which in turn, helps avoid or at least minimize jet lag.

An eye mask blocks out light and therefore helps avoid jet lag and makes your naps longer.

6) Do In-Seat Exercises

Simple in-seat exercises will help avoid the so-called “economy class syndrome”, i.e. swelling of feet and ankles. Just lift your feet off the ground, turn them left, right, rotate them in circles or move up and down. Doing these exercises is recommended for 3-4 minutes every hour.

7) Take Your Own Entertainment

Modern gadgets, like tablets, smartphones, and laptops, will keep you entertained during the flight. However, make sure to download some interesting movies, games, or books and be sure to charge your devices. Having a portable charger is also a wise decision.
