Toning Slackening Skin
Toning Slackening Skin: Now that summer is here, it’s time to kick-start your firming routine. It’s never too late to get into the habit of looking after your skin and toning up your body, and everyone can make a few small changes. Here are my top tips for beating slackening skin this summer, from long-term changes to instant quick fixes…
Light exercise
Get the ball rolling by implementing a light exercise routine. It will increase the oxygen flow to your blood and muscles, and will really get your circulation going – plus all that increased energy will make you feel great! If you’re not into running or more active exercise, have a little look into yoga or pilates. They are low-impact but are great for toning up the body.
Firming products
To supplement this new routine, try out some firming skincare products. These generally come in the form of body moisturisers and serums, and propose to tone the skin using firming natural extracts such as energising caffeine and detoxifying green tea. Such products may also drain excess fluid and prevent water retention, which is ideal for streamlining the silhouette.
Improve elasticity
Improving elasticity is a key tool in the fight against skin slackening, and restoring the balance is pretty easy to do. Any good quality moisturising product is beneficial but ones that aim to boost collagen levels are always a big plus. These will plump saggy skin, improve hydration levels and infuse a healthy-looking glow. If skin dimpling is a problem, look specifically for anti-cellulite formulas which will intensely smooth the skin and improve its overall texture.
Use a light touch when applying products
When using these products it’s important to consider the way in which you are applying them.
Don’t drag too harshly, as this can stretch the skin and accelerate slackening. Instead, apply firming lotions and serums in a smooth circular motion, taking care to work the formula in without excessive force.
False tan
If you require an instantly streamlined silhouette for an event this summer, consider false tan. The deep colour will unify an uneven skin tone and enhance the interplay between shadow and light on the skin. If you’re feeling particularly brave, you can create contours on the body where there are none, using the second layer of false tan. Enhance your colour with strategically placed, subtle shimmer along with the shoulder blades and down the centre of the legs.
