Attukal waterfalls in Munnar, Kerala

Munnar is known as the Kashmir of South India due to the picturesque waterfalls which is visited to refresh one’s mind. Attukal is one of the famous waterfalls in Munnar in Kerala with views of greeneries along its edge. It is located between Pallivasal and Mannar. It offers a roaring and cascading beauty during the rainy season. While staying at Munnar this is the place where you can have the panoramic view and enjoy the most awesome scenes. The spot is located nine kilometres away from the city. The main features of the Attukal waterfalls are the rolling hills, glittering waterfalls and charming sceneries. The place is perfect for hiking and long distance trekking.

The gushing white water is a wonderful contrast with the green surrounding. The waterfall is a convenient one due to the nearby tourists’ attractions such as the Cheeyappara waterfalls, Rose garden and the Chinnar wildlife sanctuary. On the way to the Attukal falls you need to cross a wooden narrow bridge. The beautiful scenario is ornamented with mist and streams falling from heights. The looks of the falls becomes more attractive when the gushing water becomes translucent due to the fogs surrounding the entire region. The falls stands on the tower like hills. Entry timing and fee

The falls is an ideal spot for nature lovers and adventures tourist. If you are looking to spend some romantic or leisure then the spot is the best selection. Watching the waterfalls is a best feast for the eyes and best time pass with your loved ones or even alone. The falls remains open all through the year and the visiting hour starts from 10 in the morning to 6 in the evening. Visiting hours takes more or less two hours and the entry to the falls is totally free. But if you take guide with you then they will charge Rs. 100.

There are hotels near Attukal waterfalls that serve you with heartfelt welcome and all kinds of facilities you need to have a comfortable stay. Tea valley resort, Hotel Gurubhawa, Regancy annex, David’s Regency and Emmel Dwellings are the best ones, the accommodation charge of which stays between 2000 to 3000 INR. They provide free breakfast to all their customers and are very helpful to arrange for your sightseeing.

The waterfalls come alive during monsoon season. However sometimes visitors are not allowed to enter during the rainy season due to extreme gushes of water but still the waterfalls is overflowed with natural beauty and enough forceful streams even after monsoon. So most of the people visit the falls post monsoon. The flyover in front the falls offers mind blowing view of it and is the best part of the spot. The trekking route is really exquisite as you have to pass through the tea garden and smell tea in the surroundings. The milky white gushing water is very much attracting but while crossing the bridge you need to very careful as the rocks are slippery. Be careful if you are going there with children. The water depth gets deeper during the rainy months so use a life jacket if you are planning to get down upon the water. The security level is low and you need to take care of yourself very much. Other than monsoon season, the place is safe and you could enjoy nice moments. Stay at the nearby hotels, visit the nearby attractions. The place is best suited for nature enthusiasts and adventure lovers as the place is amidst deep jungle and high and low paths.
