Chowpatty beach is located at the northern end of the Marine Drive. One can easily observe the snake charmers, self-styled gymnasts, monkey shows, eunuchs, astrologers, and drug peddlers as well. There is an array of food stalls selling Golas, Chaat, Kulfi, and Bhelpuri. In the evenings, as the crowds begin to swell, the atmosphere is more like a carnival. The beach also has historical links with the freedom movement. The statues of LokmanyaTilak and Vallabbhai Patel instantly remind of the times of the freedom struggle. The beach is a great place to witness the grand annual Ganesh Chaturthi Festival. During the festival, huge images of Lord Ganesha are taken out in processions to be immersed into the sea.

The Versova beach lies to the north of the Juhu beach in the Greater Mumbai district of Maharashtra. The beach is a continuation of the Juhu beach. Versova is home to Mumbai’s largest fishing community- the Kolis. The Powai Temple, the Jain Temple, the Siddhivinayak Temple, and Mount Mary Church are the nearby attractions of the place.

What is the best time?

The best time to visit the beaches in Mumbai is during the winter months between November and February. The temperature during this time ranges from 15°C to 30°C, making it a comfortable climate for tourists.

Mumbai experiences monsoon season from June to September, which brings heavy rainfall and strong winds, making it difficult to enjoy the beaches. During the summer months between March and May, the temperature can rise above 35°C, which can be quite hot and humid, making it uncomfortable for tourists.

Therefore, the winter months between November and February are the best time to visit Mumbai’s beaches, where you can enjoy the cool sea breeze, take a leisurely stroll on the beach, and indulge in some delicious street food.
